Black Firefighters Object to White Promotions

The white firefighters sued New Haven after the city threw out results of some 2003 promotion exams when too few minorities did well. The Supreme Court ruled in June in their favor.

Wow where to start with this one?

Was the test fair?  Can there be fair test?  If no, why can’t there be a fair test that tests all comers equally?  Assuming the test was fair wouldn’t you want the best of a group to advance, no matter the race?  Did the city officials do everything they could to give a fair test?  Assuming the test was unfair why not design a new test and test again?  Who has filled these positions for all this time?

I would like to say the time for affirmative action has come and gone and we are better for it. But I can’t.  As a nation, hell as a world, we humans have a hard time dealing with that which is different.

The Supreme Court has handed down a ruling and I would like to think they might have a clue, But then again….
